The F.R.A.® Runa Combi Bridle is an innovative three-in-one bridle designed for riders transitioning to bitless riding while still maintaining the option to ride with a bit when needed. Developed through a collaboration between F.R.A.® and Equibitfit, the Runa offers exceptional versatility, comfort and adaptability for both horse and rider.
Named after an Icelandic mare owned by Géraldine Vandevenne — professional horse dentist, bit and bitless bridle fitter, and owner of Equibitfit — the Runa was created to provide riders with a flexible solution for modern horse-friendly training. This versatile bridle can be used as:
- A bitless sidepull bridle
- A traditional bitted bridle
- A combined bit and sidepull setup
The dual-purpose design makes the Runa ideal for riders gradually transitioning to bitless riding, refining communication or maintaining lighter contact while introducing a horse to bitless work. The option to ride with double reins allows one rein set to attach to the sidepull and the other to the bit, giving riders greater flexibility and precision during training.
To maximise horse comfort, the F.R.A.® Runa includes two interchangeable headpieces:
- A standard anatomically shaped headpiece
- A pressure-relief headpiece with extra ear freedom for sensitive horses
This allows riders to easily determine which fit their horse prefers. The bridle also includes two stylish V-shaped browbands — one in smooth leather and one with elegant bling detailing for added sparkle both on the trail and in competition.
