Myler Stainless Steel Dee with Hooks, MB 02 Comfort Snaffle Wide Barrel, Level 1

The MB 02 is the Myler alternative to the traditional French link or lozenge mouthpiece commonly used in snaffle bits. The MB 02 rotates onto the tongue, applying tongue pressure, but because the mouthpiece is curved, it wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching. The barrel in the center applies approximately the same pressure on the tongue as a traditional three-piece mouthpiece, however, the barrel distributes the pressure more kindly and creates Independent Side Movementโ„ข.

  • Independent Side Movementโ„ข
  • Stainless Steel mouthpiece
  • Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips and bars
  • Copper Inlay
  • NOT Dressage Legal

Notes: The mouthpiece is similar to the MB 02 but the center barrel of the MB 01 is narrower, which concentrates pressure on the center of the tongue more than the MB 02. For more tongue relief, step up to the MB 04.

The dee with hooks is a stainless steel “D” shaped ring with fixed attachment of the mouthpiece, as well as slots (โ€œhooksโ€) at the top and bottom of the ring for bridle and rein attachment. The small loop behind the top slot accommodates a curb strap (attach with two curb hooks). Both the top bridle slot and bottom rein slot on the standard and medium dee will fit standard โ…” bridle leather. The slots on the pony dee will fit ยพ” bridle leather.

The hooks make this a much more versatile version of the dee without hooks. Attaching the headstall to the top hook holds the bit in the correct position instead of allowing it to slide around the bridle cheek pieces. Attaching the reins to the rein hooks allow the rider to lift the cheek and use the Independent Side Movementโ„ข of the mouthpiece. Using the hooks does not add leverage but allows the rider to transition from a direct rein action to indirect action without changing the bit. Adding a curb strap (using a Myler curb strap kit) incorporates curb pressure. Curb pressure is recommended for ported mouthpieces.

Action: Direct rein action when reins are not attached through rein hook. Indirect rein action when rein is fixed on rein hook.

Size: 3 3/4″ dee on 5″ and 5 1/2″ mouthpieces, 3″ dee on 4 3/4″ mouthpiece

Discipline: Primarily English

Degree of Leverage: Little to no leverage when the hooks are used
