Myler Bits

Myler bits use a curved mouthpiece that wraps around the tongue and bars instead of pinching. Independent Side Movement lets each side of the mouthpiece move separately, so you can give a clear signal with one rein without affecting the other side. Many styles come with or without hooks. The hooks hold the bit steady in the mouth and let you switch between direct and indirect rein action without changing bits.

Myler bits are designed for comfort, with a curved mouthpiece that sits around the tongue and bars rather than pinching them. How strong a bit feels depends on the mouthpiece, the cheekpiece and the rider’s hands, which is why Myler groups its bits into levels. Many riders start with a Level 1 Comfort Snaffle for young or sensitive horses.

Myler groups its bits into levels that reflect how much independent rein control a horse is ready for. Level 1 mouthpieces such as the Comfort Snaffle suit horses new to Myler or with sensitive mouths, Level 2 introduces more tongue relief and control, and Level 3 gives the most precise cues for more advanced training.

Each cheekpiece changes how rein pressure is applied: Dee and Eggbutt cheekpieces are common all-round choices, Bridoon cheekpieces are designed for use with a double bridle, and the 3-Ring Combination gives adjustable leverage for horses that need extra control.

Rules vary by discipline and governing body, and not every Myler bit is competition legal. Some styles in this range are marked as not dressage legal in their product description. Check the description for the bit you’re considering, then confirm it against your governing body’s current rules before you compete.

Myler bits are sized by mouthpiece width, which you select on each product page. Figures like 3 3/8″ in a product name refer to the cheek ring size, not the mouth width.
